SCANNER is a video art series that uses thermal imaging cameras to highlight thermal signatures of subjects in various landscapes. The piece was accompanied by ambient sound while shooting focused on the thermal contrasts between the human form and the surrounding interior/exterior landscape.

The initial project won a Jerome Foundation Production Grant that allowed summer travel to White Sands in New Mexico, the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, and Great Sand Dunes in Colorado to research how thermal signatures would meld with the heat temperatures there.

The stunning natural formations of the dunes and landscape and the absence of plant growth heightens the dreamlike atmosphere of the thermal footage. The final display of the piece was a gallery installation made up of indoor and outdoor projected video.
